MINNEAPOLIS -- After what Chris Parmelee has been through the last six weeks, hell savour this home run for a while. NFL Jerseys China . Parmelee hit a game-ending shot in the ninth inning and the Minnesota Twins overcame David Ortizs big night to beat the Boston Red Sox 8-6 on Tuesday. "Its huge. Its one of those things thats a confidence builder," said Parmelee, who failed to make the roster out of spring training and cleared waivers before ending up back in the minors yet again. "In the long run, youve got to keep grinding." Ortiz went 4 for 5 with two homers and four RBIs, but it wasnt enough for Boston. Kurt Suzuki singled with two outs off reliever Andrew Miller (1-1) before Parmelee lined an 0-1 pitch into the right-field seats for his first two RBIs of the season. Parmelee has spent parts of the last three seasons with Minnesota, but hasnt been able to carry over the power he shows in the minors to the big league club. "He got sent down, frustrated, out of spring training," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "He worked really hard down there and got back up here by playing his way back up, which is what youre supposed to do. A big one there for him." Eduardo Nunez homered and Brian Dozier had two RBIs in a five-run second for Minnesota. Ortiz hit solo homers in the first and fourth and is tied with Jim Rice on the Red Sox list with 382. It was the 42nd multihomer game for Big Papi, who began his career with the Twins and now has 17 homers and 47 RBIs against his former team. "One day youre going to go home, look back and see your names, see your name located right next to those guys, and thats a pretty good damn career," Ortiz said. Ortiz added an RBI single in the sixth and another one in the seventh that made it 6-5. "Our meetings were, Dont let him beat us. Well, that didnt work. Well have to change our meetings," Gardenhire said. Glen Perkins (1-0) pitched the ninth, striking out Ortiz and Mike Napoli to strand Shane Victorino at first base. Boston scored three times in the seventh and tied the score at 6 after reliever Matt Guerrier walked pinch-hitter Jonny Gomes with the bases loaded. Caleb Thielbar came on to strike out former Twins catcher A.J. Pierzynski with the bases loaded to stop the rally. Leading 6-3, Minnesota left the bases loaded in the sixth. It also stranded runners at second and third in the third and fifth. Red Sox starter Jake Peavy allowed six runs on nine hits in 4 1-3 innings and failed to complete at least five innings for the first time in 18 starts with Boston. Ricky Nolasco allowed three runs and struck out six in six innings for the Twins. Joe Mauer and Suzuki each had an RBI single. The Minnesota Wild goal horn blared every time the Twins scored a run as the Wild played the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL playoffs a few miles down the road in St. Paul. As soon as Parmelee touched home plate, the horn blared even louder as his teammates mobbed him all the way to the dugout. "I was honestly just trying to hit a ball in the gap somewhere, watch Suzuki run," said Parmelee, who also hit a game-winning homer 10 days ago for Triple-A Rochester. "I was sitting fastball. You have to sit fastball against that guy. His slider is pretty nasty." A victory would have given the Red Sox their first three-game winning streak of the season. "It takes the air out of your sails quick. We felt like we were gaining some momentum," Boston manager John Farrell said. "Had we got through that last inning, we felt like we were in good shape in terms of who was remaining in their bullpen versus ours, but you tip your hat to Parmelee, who got one of one of the better left-handers in the game right now." Farrell originally listed Peavy as Wednesdays starter, but said he intended to start Peavy on Tuesday all along and "screwed up" when announcing the probables for this series. NOTES: Twins GM Rob Antony said outfielder Josh Willingham, out since April 7 with a broken wrist, took early batting practice and could begin a minor league rehab assignment this weekend. ... Antony also said an MRI showed a re-aggravation of the wrist injury sustained by top prospect Byron Buxton late in spring training. Buxton will work out in Fort Myers, Florida, until the wrist feels better. ... Peavy has allowed a home run in nine straight regular-season starts. ... Farrell said before the game that Gardenhire and Indians manager Terry Francona will be his coaches for the All-Star game at Target Field in July. ... Felix Doubront (1-3, 5.09 ERA) originally was scheduled to start Tuesday for Boston, but was given an extra day of rest and will start Wednesday against Kevin Correia (1-4, 6.34). NFL Jerseys Supply . The Padres made the moves before Fridays game at Washington. They promoted infielder Jace Peterson from Double-A San Antonio and right-hander Kevin Quackenbush from Triple-A El Paso. Cheap Football Jerseys . Schaub will start for an injured Case Keenum and try to help the Texans end a 12-game skid. Schaubs last action in Houston came when he took over late in a game against Oakland on Nov. 17 as Keenum was struggling. http://www.cheapnflchinajerseys.us/ . Argentina, who have yet to beat New Zealand in 17 meetings, rocked the All Blacks with an early converted try to backrower Juan Manuel Leguizamon and led 7-0 after five minutes. But Smiths double in the 23rd and 26th minutes - when Argentina was reduced to 14 men by the sin-binning of hooker Eusebio Guinazu - turned the tide of the match and set up New Zealands third straight Championship win.MONTREAL -- The losing run is over for the Montreal Alouettes, who look like theyve found their starting quarterback halfway through the CFL season. Jonathan Crompton made his first CFL start as the Alouettes used touchdowns by S.J. Green and newcomer James Rodgers to defeat the Ottawa Redblacks 20-10 on Friday night. The former Edmonton Eskimo completed 15 passes for 245 yards as the Alouettes (2-7) ended a six-game losing streak and took over second place in the feeble East Division. "It was a great team win," was Cromptons only assessment of a win that came despite two drive-killing turnovers, but was aided by the expansion Redblacks 135 yards in penalties. Wallace Miles had a 27-yard pass-and-run TD in the fourth quarter and Brett Maher had a field goal on Ottawas opening drive as the Redblacks (1-8) lost a sixth game in a row. "Its tough to win when youre not scoring," said Ottawa coach Rick Campbell. "No team can take the amount of penalties we take. "We cant have the moment be too big or emotional for us, where we lose our way. We need to keep the yards we earn by not taking penalties. Well keep working at it." It was as close as the Alouettes have been to a must-win game this season: at home against the expansion Redblacks and giving Crompton his shot after Troy Smith and Alex Brink struggled in the starting job. Crompton found Duran Carter for five receptions for 127 yards while Green caught five for 48 yards. Running back Brandon Whitaker rushed for an even 100. "He won the football game," coach Tom Higgins said of his quarterback. "One of my best friends, Ron Lancaster, said the only evaluation for a quarterback is can you win with him? "He brings that to the table." Cromptons best moment came after Miles touchdown pulled Ottawa to within three points with 6:14 left to play. On the ensuing drive, Crompton hit Carter with a 48-yard pass that set up Rodgers 17-yard scamper around the left side for a TD in his first CFL game. Rodgers signed this month as a replacement for injured kick returner Larry Taylor, but also saw some time in the backfield. Sean Whyte added a field goal and had three punts roll into the end zone for singles for Montreal. A season low of 19,440 turned out to Percival Molson Stadium for a flag-filled game tthat until the fourth quarter had few big plays from either offence to cheer. Cheap Jerseys Online. Crompton, who relieved Brink in the second quarter of a loss last week in Winnipeg, was not on the field for the first TD. Tanner Marsh, who plays in short-yardage situations, threw the one-yard touchdown pass to Green in the first quarter after the Alouettes were stopped twice at the one. A pair of turnovers had Montreal settling for an 8-3 halftime lead despite controlling much of the play. The Redblacks got a 30-yard Maher field goal 3:16 into the game. Whyte added a punt single early in the second quarter, but Montreal had a drive end when Cromptons wobbly pass was picked off at the Ottawa eight by Travis Brown for his first career interception. Another drive ended when Whitaker fumbled at the Ottawa two, with the Redblacks Jerrell Gavins recovering in the end zone. Whyte got his third rouge early in the second half and added a field goal. The Redblacks made a game of it as Henry Burris led an 80-yard drive capped by Miles TD. Crompton reportedly winked at Carter in the huddle, then hit him with the pass that turned momentum back to the Alouettes and sealed their long-awaited win. "We still have room to improve," said Carter. "We left points out there. "We could have made the game a lot easier early on. But we showed all the teams in the CFL that were a good team and were not going away. It does wonders. Its like in basketball, where one shot goes in and then you start making them all. Thats what we want to do now." Ottawas last gasp drive ended with a turnover on downs. The Redblacks bright spot was Miles seven catches for 101 yards. Burris went 21 for 34 for 245 yards. Campbell called it another learning experience for his new team. "Theres a lot of good football players who are going to be around Ottawa for a long time and we cant lose sight of that when were losing like this," he said. "Well keep coaching them and finding ways to be better." Notes: Chad (Ochocinco) Johnson returned from injury for Montreal, bumping Kenny Stafford from the line-up, but did not make a catch. . . Ex-Alouette Moton Hopkins was scratched for Ottawa along with Matt Albright. . . The Redblacks wore their all-black home uniforms with the hard-to-read red numbers.
